WHAT IT DOES, WHAT IT IS FOR, WHERE TO APPLY

Engineering is the field of action focused on offering practical solutions to concrete problems in society, whether they are social, economic, or structural problems.
In this way, the role played by the professional graduated in Engineering is to develop planned solutions that are economically and technically viable for the problem in question. Therefore, it is necessary for the professional to deeply understand the theme of the problem to be solved. Thus, in addition to creating a solution for the problem, the professional graduated in Engineering must coordinate the development of the project, needing to have a notion of administration for project management.
What is an Engineer’s salary?
In Brazil, an engineer’s salary can vary depending on the professional branch, but according to Law 4.950-A, of 1966, professionals in Engineering, Chemistry, Architecture, Agronomy, and Veterinary Medicine must earn their salaries following the following fixed table:
6-hour daily journey = 6 minimum wages
7-hour daily journey = 7.25 minimum wages
8-hour daily journey = 8.5 minimum wages

What are an Engineer’s obligations?
Every Engineering professional, when deciding to formally exercise technical activities as an Engineer, must sign their annual CREA fee for their respective state and generate their ART and RRT (Technical Responsibility Record).
The ART (Technical Responsibility Annotation) is a Technical Responsibility Annotation established by Law 6.496/77 that defines, for legal purposes, the technical responsible for the execution of works or services related to the professions covered by the Confea/Crea System (in this case, covering the Engineering supervised by the CREA of their respective regions of Brazil). This legal annotation, in addition to ensuring that the project manager has the respective technical knowledge necessary for the execution of the project, also proves the copyright to the professional who will execute the project, the right to remuneration as proof of the execution of the service, proves the existence of a contract between the parties and defines the limits of the technical responsibility (civil and criminal) of the engineer responsible for the project.
The RRT (Technical Responsibility Record) is a document present in every work that proves and certifies the regularity of the architect responsible for the project and the regularity of the project itself. Unlike the ART, the RRT is a document generated for each work in order to enable the architect to start the works, thus protecting the buyer and the person responsible for the construction from irregularities in the project and in its execution. It is worth mentioning that the RRT is necessary only for projects aimed at Architecture and Civil Engineering works.
Therefore, my colleagues and I in the field of Mechanical Engineering do not need to generate an RRT for our projects, we need to generate only the ART and guarantee our CREA annuity to prove and enable our Engineering services as regular in all legal effects.
Thank you for your attention and see you in the next post!
